Feeling a bit schizophrenic…

We got back home today. Back east, in Arlington, VA, after a whirlwind house-hunting trip to Laramie. I wish I could say the search was a breeze…especially after spending so many weeks viewing homes over the internet and looking at photos sent by a local real estate agent. Not so. With only 2 ½ days in Laramie, trying to decide on which house to call a home, it was a rather stressful process, to say the least! I’m hopeful though, that we’ll have a fixed address…soon!

On the upside, we finally got to meet the local realtor who has earnestly worked on our behalf these past six weeks. It was fun getting to know him while driving all over Laramie and then chatting with a very friendly family who graciously opened up their home so that we could take a peek at what life might be like living in their abode. It was also helpful to get another sense of the town before we make the big move. A more prudent family would have made this trip months ago. Ironically, however, I think this last minute trip has worked to our benefit: allowing us to feel a bit more like “we’ll be coming home” when we finally pull into Laramie in early August.

We also spent some time at the law school chatting with the ever so friendly staff. Once again they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and also tried to calm my anxieties about the winter drives to Cheyenne and Fort Collins.

It was heartening to hear these comments by “j” on the drive back to Denver…“We’ll, I say this about Laramie: everyone is really nice,” and “Wow! It is really beautiful out here!”

So…it now seems a tad strange to come “back home” to finish packing (and to get the house in order for our renters) to only head out again in two short weeks to our “new home.” Makes me feel a bit schizophrenic!

Thanks for checking in…
