These are the adventures of an east coast family who moved 'due west' to a new frontier--to the small university town of Laramie, Wyoming. We continue to enjoy our new adventure and continue on our mission: to explore the world west of the Mississippi, to seek out new friends, to go boldly where (many) others have gone before, and most of all...relish and enjoy the journey!

Ordinance 8.16.050
Didn't know there was an ordinance for trash can size...but then again, Arlington Country provided our trash cans.
Here, most people put plastic bags out front...during the morning, not the night before.
Otherwise, we might find leftovers strewn about the neighborhood due to the local wildlife...or tossed about by the wind.
Always something new to learn...

We have two steel cans in the alley behind our house. I guess they are "regulation/ordinance approved-size" b/c we've never had a notice, but then again, those cans have probably been here since the house was built back in the 1950s. Ours have lids, which allows us to put the trash out the night before. But, yes, the big fat birds especially like to dig in the trash and they sometimes DROP the trash in your yard. And if you have a dog, that is not good. We once discovered our dog eating an old biscuit that had been dropped by one of the big birds (crows?). We hadn't eaten biscuits in a long while so God knows where that biscuit came from. Needless to say, the dog got sick. So beware of large birds digging in your trash and leaving surprises in your yard on trash day.
